Yesterday's Work

Well I finally finished the table runner that I started a couple of months ago, I am embarrased to say it took me that long. But in my defense I was not sure how to do the mitred corners on the binding and when my cousin Jenny came to stitch with me on Tuesday she showed me the right way to do it so I finished it yesterday:) Of course it is pumpkins my favourite and in the rich autumn colours that I love. Luckily for me my mother loves them too so I don't have any problems putting them in the house, seeing as how I live with her in her home:)

I also covered 2 lamps shades for my bedroom :) A few weeks ago when I was in Harvey Norman I saw the most beautiful lamps that had leopard print ceramic bottoms and the shades were embossed velvet tiger print they were divine but alas out of my price range at $200 each, sooooo I went to Chickenfeed and bought a pair of lamps for $20 then went through my stash and found some leopard print fabric. A quick trip to Spotlight for some black braid and some dangling bead trim and I spent 4 hours last night watching telly and recovering them. I was pretty happy with how they turned out.

My bedroom is done in an african theme, not my first choice as I prefer pretty french provincial shabby chic but my boyfriend Craig does not like to sleep in flowery rooms! Not that it should matter considering he is only here on the weekends :0 So we compromised as we both like big cats my fav is the leopard and his is the Tiger. So here is a couple of pics of the Shade finished and the one half of the bedroom:)

Today I plan on finishing the Table cloth to match the runner and make a start on the bathroom curtains. I have a sea theme in there featuring shells and seahorses will put pics up at a later date when that is all complete.
Have a great day
Love and hugs

  3. Those lampshades did turn out swell. How did you get the fabric to stay on? Did you use an epoxy or a spray adhesive?
